I am a member of Burleson Church of Christ and have been for my whole life. Also my mom has been a member for her entire life, my grandma and great grandma as well and on and on. This is such a wonderful family tradition for generations to follow in the same religious footsteps as those set before them.
Our church is currently building a brand new building to accomodate our growing family. At church a few Sunday's ago our preacher Karl focused on how important it is to have a good, strong foundation. Obviously he was preaching about a spiritual foundation, however he kept making references to the building of our new church. He explained the obvious- a foundation is the lowest part of a building, on which it rests. Just like with the physical building process of a home, church, building etc. if your love of God, family is built strong from the bottom up it is prepared to withstand the strongest of storms.
This was a great lesson and it applies to me in my personal life right now. Josh and I are a new family of 3 and we are building our very own home. We are so excited and proud to have a new home being built. Our foundation has been poured and all the framing has been done. This process is symbolic for us. We want to continue being a family who serves the lord in a house with a firm foundation.
Luke 6:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
